Four County is Prepared for Potential Impacts of Hurricane Michael

October 10th, 2018

Four County EMC is closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Michael and are ready to respond to any power outages. While the storm is expected to have less impact to our state than Hurricane Florence, Michael’s wind and rain could bring down trees and power lines in areas where the ground is already saturated, resulting in power outages.

Call: 888-368-7289 to report an outage. Outages can also be reported and viewed through our Outage Map

Some simple things you can do before the storm hits are:

·         Review your storm plan. Outline the emergency plan for your family. If you have any pets or livestock, include them in your plan.

·         Restock your emergency kit. While outages caused by Hurricane Michael are not expected to be prolonged, your emergency supply kit should alwaysinclude a three-day supply of non-perishable food, water and medication, as well as any other items you might need in case of a power outage, such as a flashlight, radio and batteries. Make sure to replenish any items that were used during Hurricane Florence.

·         Charge your cell phone. This will allow you to stay connected to emergency and safety updates even if the power goes out.

·         Secure outdoor items, including tarps. Be aware that Michael’s strong winds may blow off tarps that are in place from Hurricane Florence. It’s also a good idea to store lawn furniture, decorations, toys, garbage cans and other items that can be brought indoors.

You may get outage updates by checking our outage map. Also, we will keep updates on Facebook, Twitter and before, during and after the storm.

Crews are also preparing for the storm and are poised to quickly restore any power outages as soon as conditions are safe.
