Four County EMC Seeks Middle School Students for NC Basketball Camp Scholarships

January 25th, 2012

Four County Electric Membership Corporation is proud to announce two basketball scholarship programs for 2012, sponsored by North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy cooperatives.

Four County EMC will sponsor one rising 6-8 grade female student to attend the Kellie Harper Basketball Camp at NC State University and one rising 6-8 eighth grade male student to attend the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The Kellie Harper camp will be held June 24-27, 2012 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh and the Roy Williams camp will be held June 16-20, 2012 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. All expenses for the camps will be paid for by Four County. Campers must have permission from a parent or guardian to attend either camp and must provide their own transportation to and from the camp.

The deadline for students to apply to either camp is March 30, 2012.

Not only does the program allow North Carolina middle school students to spend time on a college campus, it also gives them the opportunity to receive individual and group instruction from two successful coaches to enhance their basketball skills.

“We have awarded these scholarships to deserving students since 2004 and we are thrilled to continue this summer tradition,” said Gay Johnson, Director of Corporate Communications for Four County Electric Membership Corporation.  “We are confident camp graduates will gain new skills that will develop their character and enable them to excel on and off the court.”

Rising sixth through eighth grade students interested in the scholarships can contact Gay Johnson at (910) 259-1834 or via email at gayjohnson@fourcty.orgAlso, students can click here to download the basketball camp applications.
